A look back on this past year at BBSP and our 10 most notable stories from 2025, all geared toward creating more equitable shared micromobility systems.

“Seeing the record-breaking shared micromobility ridership numbers from this year’s National Association of City Transportation Officials and NABSA reports shows the continued growth in shared micromobility and the larger role it plays in the transportation landscape,” says Waffiyyah Murray, Indego program manager at the City of Philadelphia and NABSA board president. “I’m excited to see shared micromobility continue to innovate and hopefully receive the recognition and funding support prioritized the way it should be.”
In September this year, Indego set its record for the highest ridership month. It was a 20% increase compared to September 2024. It was a significant year for BBSP and the shared micromobility industry as well.
Shared micromobility continues to become part of more people’s lives. 2025 showed us that the desire to use shared micromobility is ever-present, and the need for it as a transportation option is real. It is a reliable and fun form of transportation, and as long as it is accessible to everyone, shared micromobility will continue to enhance the lives of people in our cities and towns.
In 2025, there were many significant moments for the industry. We learned that 2024 marked the second consecutive year of record-breaking growth with a 31% increase in ridership (according to NABSA’s 2024 Shared Micromobility State of the Industry Report for North America). We saw an increase in the use of solar charging stations, and we gathered in Montreal for the industry’s flagship conference hosted by NABSA.
It was a significant year for BBSP as well. We are celebrating the success of our mini grantees in getting more people on bikes and scooters. We held a multi-day retreat for our Living Lab grantees in partnership with POGOH bike share in Pittsburgh, and we continued our storytelling to shed light on who is working to make shared micromobility more equitable and how they are doing it.
Our must-read stories from 2025 highlight important research and innovations, how to increase access for all, and how this industry can be a path toward a new career. Take some time to read these stories below, and we’ll see you next year for more.
