SUMMARY:2023 National Shared Mobility Summit
DESCRIPTION:To create a platform for collective action and accountability\, SUMC convened the Shared Mobility 2030 Action Agenda which calls on the industry to establish a roadmap to making shared mobility more viable than driving a car. This call comes at an opportune time with the historic passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act. Both offer opportunities to replace car-centric transportation with people-focused shared mobility that fights climate change\, promotes equity\, and strengthens community. \nAs we enter 2023\, this call to action has been all the more pressing. Climate change plagues communities\, traffic deaths remain horrifically high\, and public spaces prioritize personal vehicles. We must build upon and hold ourselves accountable to advance shared mobility. Thus\, this year’s conference theme is “All Together Now: Action + Accountability for People-Focused Mobility.” \nJoin SUMC this year for an opportunity for old and new friends in the shared mobility world to gather and evaluate where we stand on achieving our collective goals. With speeches\, workshops\, panels\, networking\, and field trips\, attendees can learn about best practices in shared mobility that they can implement in their communities.

This conference facilitates conversations about strategies and best practices with E-Mobility Diversity\, Equity. and Inclusion.To provide greater access to community members and community-based organizations\, our conference will be a hybrid event this year. \nOct 25th – Day 1 held online to provide community access nationwide \nOct 26th – Day 2 held at George Washington University\, Washington\, D.C. \nTransportation inequities impact the most vulnerable populations\, including frontline communities and communities of color. With over 1300+ attendees worldwide last year\, this year’s E-Mobility Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion Conference introduces new topics to a broader and more diverse audience. \nThe annual National E-Mobility Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion (NEMDEI) conference was created in 2020 by EVNoire\, national thought leaders in e-mobility best practices and e-mobility equity\, and Forth\, leaders in clean transportation and producers of the national Roadmap Conference. \nEVNoire and Forth recognized a need for a national forum for conversation solely focused on centering equity in programs\, policies\, and practices related to e-mobility. Further\, they saw a need to highlight and learn from diverse voices working across the e-mobility ecosystem and to create pathways for diverse professionals to engage with industry\, communities\, government\, and nonprofits. To address these issues\, the National E-Mobility Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion Conference was born. \nThis one-of-a-kind conference is highly anticipated and continues to grow each year. It was critically important to have a led by the very communities at the focus of the dialogue. The 2023 NEMDEI conference will be presented by EVNoire and other partners and supporters. The dynamic two-day program will be held in person for the first time on March 27-28\, 2024\, in Washington\, DC\, at the iconic Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library. \nThe Equity Summit will uplift strategies to advance racial equity in smart growth amidst growing political uncertainty in 2024 and beyond\, as well as a shift away from explicit equity initiatives by elected officials\, state agencies\, and the private sector. \n  \nWhy You Should Attend:\nSmart growth practitioners must proactively integrate strategies to advance racial equity into their planning\, transportation\, and land use work\, especially at the current moment. Over the last several years there has been increased attention and investment targeted at inequitable planning systems\, but to date\, these efforts have fallen short of our stated goals. In the face of capacity concerns\, surface-level interventions to systemic challenges\, and the recent Supreme Court decision effectively ending affirmative action\, our movement is at a critical inflection moment. \nWhat to Expect:\nThe event aims to connect movement leaders\, identify key needs within the field\, and build a community of mutual support and encouragement among practitioners who may be discouraged by resistance to meaningful progress.
